FAQs

How long does it take to receive a custom pet portrait?

Depending on the number of orders in queue, pet portraits generally take 2-4 weeks to complete, once all necessary photos and information have been received, depending on how many are in queue. They can then be shipped out, which takes 7-10 days for most addresses in the continental US.

What size pet portraits do you offer, and what is the cost?

Currently I offer an 11x14" unframed canvas painting for $125, a 16x20" unframed canvas painting for $250, an 8x8" paper crafted framed portrait for $100, and a 12x12" paper crafted framed portrait for $150. These prices are for 1 pet in the portrait. There is an additional charge of $50 per additional pet. Limits are: 11x14" - 2 pets, 16x20" - 4 pets, 8x8" - 1 pet, 12x12" - 2 pets. This price also includes shipping to the continental US, which usually takes an additional 7-10 days. Shipping outside the continental US will incur an additional charge, and may take additional time to receive. Additional sizes may be offered in the future. For information regarding specific other size requests, please send me an inquiry.

What kind of paint do you use for pet portraits?

Pet portraits are done with a combination of Artist Loft, Liquitex Basics, and Liquitex Professional acrylic paints. Paper crafted portraits use craft paper, between 65-100lb.

What do I need to provide to you when I order a custom pet portrait?

1) Please send a message from our Contact section, or send an email to DaniShepherdArt@gmail.com

2) Payment can be made via Venmo (@dani-shepherd-55), CashApp ($DaniAlayne), or credit card. A 6% sales tax will be added. To reserve your portrait, please pay a deposit of 50%, with the remainder (including sales tax) due before the final piece is shipped.

3) Please describe what background color you'd like or send a swatch picture (you can google the color and send me a picture of one of the results that you like), for painted portraits. I will do my best to match it. For paper crafted portraits, please advise if you'd like natural colors or more abstract. If using abstract colors, describe the color theme you would like to stay in, or provide a picture of the room it's going into or an inspiration art piece, rug, etc from which to pull color inspiration.

4) Please provide 3-5 well-lit, in focus pics of your pet. Pictures where they are facing the camera work best, but any can be used. If requesting a portrait of multiple pets, either have them together in the pictures, or provide pictures of them with the same lighting (same amount of brightness, contrast, color balance, and light source coming from the same direction), if possible. For paper crafted portraits of 2 pets, please have them in the picture together, if at all possible.
